Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a sufficient oil separation ability without increasing compression any more by setting up a cyclone type oil separator between a chamber and a casing for compressor unit.
CONSTITUTION: A gas for which an oil and a compressed gas are mixed is discharged from a discharge port 2b by operation of a compressor. The mixed gas is fed to an oil separator 12 by way of a piping 18 and flows into a cylinder 15 of the oil separator 12 through an inlet port 14. The mixed gas then turns strongly, an oil drop sticks for the major part to an inside wall of the cylinder 15 according to a difference in centrifugal force to which the oil drop and the compressed gas are subjected, and it flows downward along the inside wall to reach the bottom of a chamber 8 by way of an opening 17a. On the other hand, the compressed gas from which the oil drop has been thoroughly separated flows as turning downward along the inside wall of the cylinder 15, flows upward by the aid of a return plate 17, passes in the cylinder 15 then and is discharged from a discharge piping 10.
