Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the binding and durability of the catalyst and reduce pressure losses by letting catalyst material be carried in the iron-base material comprising treating its surfaces with the molten salt containing K2Cr2O7.
CONSTITUTION: This is the catalyst comprising treating the iron-base material such as sheet of iron or stainless steel with the molten salt containing K2Cr2O7 and Na2Cr2O7 then letting catalyst material (e.g., titanium-base catalyst in the case for denitration) be carried therein. This catalyst, having surfaces in a fine coarse state composed of active compounds containing iron and chromium through the treatment using the foregoing molten salt, sticks the catalyst firmly, and permits the reduction of the thickness of the catalyst layer, is superior in corrosion resistance and has a long life.
