Abstract
PURPOSE: To quickly move a driven member coupled to a heavy load, by connecting the driven member and a driving member for moving it, to each other by a moving force storage member and by providing stoppers which are located at the ends of the driven member and are appropriately actuated.
CONSTITUTION: In the rocker arm moving mechanism of an internal combustion engine, an intake valve is actuated by a slow cam 9. When a detector 47 is hit and the piston rod 27 of a hydraulic cylinder 25 is retracted through a solenoid valve 31, a spring 29 is pulled and a force for moving a driven member 21 leftward is stored by the spring because both solenoids 45, 46 are deenergized and stoppers 43, 44 are protruded by other springs 41, 42. To change a rocker arm 5 over from the slow cam 9 to a rapid cam 11, a switch not shown in Fig. is turned on and the stopper 43 is moved down by the solenoid 45. As a result, the driven member 21 is instantaneously moved leftward by the spring 29 and the rocker arm 5 is displaced to the rapid cam 11.
