Abstract
PURPOSE: To dephosphorize the molten steel containing Cr without causing oxidation loss of Cr by mixing Si together with CaC2 as a dephosphorizer and charging these into the molten steel at the dephosphorizing of said molten steel.
CONSTITUTION: At the dephosphorizing of the molten steel containing Cr>1%, Si of 0.5W2.0% is simultaneously added to the CaC2 as a dephosphorizer in order to considerably increase the activity of P in the molten steel. To add this into the molten steel, the cylindrical vessels made of iron plates having multiple holes and packed with the mixture of CaC2 and Si are added in the molten steel or these are added by a blowing method using Ar gas or the like. The addition of Si locally increases the activity of P of the molten steel and causes it to react to CaC2, thereby permitting the dephosphorization without causing oxidation loss of Cr unlike conventional methods.
