Abstract

PURPOSE:To limit a current flowing through a DC motor by a simple means, by providing a current detection unit coupled in series with the armature of the DC motor and a current limiting circuit made of active elements such as transistors. CONSTITUTION:Power supplied from AC power source 4 is changed into DC power by a converter 5 to supply power to a DC motor 6 through a control circuit. The speed of the motor is detected by a detector 7 and compared with a speed command VS by a comparator 1 to apply a control signal to the converter 5 through a preamplifier 2 and a phase control circuit 3. The motor current is detected by another detector 8 to apply a signal to a switch 11 through an amplifier 9 and a comparator 10 to intermit the power supply. The switch 11 is made of a transistor, a diode, a resistor, etc.
