Abstract
PURPOSE:To ensure the quick detection of the faulty area by returning via the control signal from outside the electric-optical converter output of the two stations or the intermediate repeater station to the optical-electric converter of the self- station via the optical variable attenuator. CONSTITUTION:The signal to be sent to station C from station A reaches optical loop-back device 4 through electric- optical converter 1a and fiber 3a and then supplied to optical-electric converter 2a through fiber 3b. In case some fault occurs, the remote control is given to unit 4 via the control signal in order to shift mirrors 7a and 7b toward the arrows (positions of 7c and 7d), and then the light from electric- optical converter 1b is returned and received through the route of fiber 3d mirror 7d optical attenuator 6 mirror 7c fiber 3b to be then compared with the prescribed value. Thus the decision can be given quickly to the fault of the corresponding loop-back transmission system or other transmission systems.
