Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of light signal transmission by preventing a normal repeater from being judged to be a faulty repeater wrongly, by providing up-directional and down-directional shutters between transmittion lines of a light circuit that returns a supervisory signal. CONSTITUTION:Repeater REP1 a light communication system is provided with a light returning circuit for a monitoring over a fault of optical fiber. In this light circuit, avalache photodiode APD1, laser diode LD1, lenses L1-L4, and half- mirrors M1 and M2 are arranged and between lens L2 and mirror M1 returning the supervisory signal, in mirrors M1 and M2, and in mirror M2 and lens L4, shutters S1-S3 are also arranged. Input and output light paths to the light circuit are cut off to prevent a normal repeater from being judged to be faulty one wrongly, so that the reliability of light signal transmission will be improved.
