Abstract

PURPOSE:To form the title support with superior adherence by laying the specified first and second undercoat layers. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous dispersion (A) is prepared by adding about 0.1-10 wt% of a copolymer containing 1wt% or more of a monomer having an epoxy or carboxyl group, e.g., a glycidyl methacrylate-ethyl acrylate copolymer, and the dispersion is coated onto a polyester support and dried to form the first undercoat layer. An aqueous dispersion (B) containing about 0.01-10wt% of a copolymer containing 5wt% or more of acrylamide or a vinyl monomer having a functional group such as a carboxyl or hydroxyl group and about 0.01-10wt% of gelatin is then coated onto the first undercoat layer and dried with air with a wet-bulb temp. of 15 deg.C or above and a dry-bulb temp. of 60 deg.C or above to adjust the specific rotation as gelatin to -150 or more, thus forming the second undercoat layer.
