Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance the adherence of a photographic polyester support to a photographic hydrophilic layer by forming a layer containing a copolymer of glycidyl (meth)acrylate, a diolefin monomer and a vinyl monomer on one side of the support.
CONSTITUTION: 60W90wt% of glycidyl (meth)acrylate and 40W10wt% of a diolefin monomer such as butadiene, isoprene, isobutene or 1,4-pentadiene having two ethylene bonds in its molecule are copolymerized together with 0W30wt% of a vinyl monomer such as vinyl acetate or methyl methacrylate as required by emulsion polymerization or other method. The resulting copolymer is then dispersed in an aqueous dispersion medium and coated onto a photographic polyester support. Thus, high adhesion strength is provided between the support and a photographic hydrophilic layer.
