Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare a coating compostion useful for temporary protection of the surface of a plywood, a coated plate, etc. and giving an easily strippable coating film having improved water resistance, by mixing an aqueous dispersion material with a polyvinyl alcohol solution at a specific ratio.
CONSTITUTION: A strippable coating composition comprising (A) 100 parts by weight (solid content) of a polyvinyl alcohol (pref. having a polymerization degree of 300W2,400 and a saponification degree of ≥85%) and (B) 50W1,000 parts by weight of one or more aqueous dispersion materials selected from (a) a polyacrylic ester emulsion, (b) a vinyl acetate copolymer emulsion, e.g. vinyl acetate-ethyl acrylate copolymer emulusion, etc., and (c) a rubber latex, e.g. butadiene-styrene copolymer latex, etc.. If necessary, dyes, pigments and the other additives may be added.
