Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable scanning of a light spot at high speed by oppositely arranging two rotary polyhedral mirrors of the same construction through a lens system and synchronously rotating the mirrors in the same direction at a phase difference of pi/N. CONSTITUTION:First and second rotary polyhedral mirrors 4a, 4b of the same construction synchronously rotating in the same direction at a phase difference of pi/N(where N represents the number of divided mirror surfaces) are oppositely arranged through condenser lenses 9a, 9b. After light beam from a laser light source 1 is incident to a light modulation element 2 to thereby conduct an intensity modulation of the light, it is converted through a beam shaping lens 3 into a light beam 7 of predetermined beam width, and incident to one surface of the mirrors 4a. Thus, the reflected light 8 from the one surface of the mirrors 4a is passed through the condenser lenses 9a, 9b then incident to the mirror 4b. The reflected light 11 from the mirrors 4b is directed through a beam splitter 12 in predetermined direction, and condensed on a projecting surface 6 through a ftheta lens 5. Thus, light spot can be scanned twice via the reflected light while scanning on one surface of the first rotary polyhedral mirror.
