Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the damage of a metal mold and avoid the tie-up of a molding cycle by a method wherein a photo-path is provided along the surface of one metal mold of a forming apparatus and the completion of the release of a molded body from the metal mold is detected by a photoelectric conversion element provided for the photo-path so as to control the molding operation. CONSTITUTION:An injection molding apparatus consists of a fixed-side platen 1, a movable-side platen 2 reciprocated only at a stated stroke by a hydraulic system, a fixed metal mold 5, a movable metal mold 11 and others. On one metal mold, at least, a photo-path 12 is set in parallel with and near to the cavity surface of the movable metal mold 11, for example, and a photoelectric conversion element 14 to detect electrically the change of luminous energy of the photo-path 12 i.e. the interception of photo-beam thereof is provided. By this, whether the release of a molded body M from the metal mold 11 is completed or not is detected as a signal from the photoelectric conversion element 14 and the signal is supplied to a control circuit 20 to perform the control of the hydraulic system and, resultingly, of the molding operation.
