Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a muffler from being consumed by fire as well as to promote the cooling effect of the muffler by providing a guide vane in an air passage shaped between the muffler and a muffler cover and whirling the air stream inside the air passage.
CONSTITUTION: A muffler 2 provided on the exit side of an exhaust collection pipe 1 is covered with a hollow cylindrical muffler cover 3. An air passage 4 is shaped between the muffler 2 and the muffler cover 3, and provided respectively with openings 4a and 4b on its upper and lower ends. The air passage 4 is equipped with a guide vane 5 near the lower opening 4a. By guide parts 6 given to this guide vane 5, the outside air introduced into the air passage 4 through the lower opening 4a is risen along the cross section of the air passage 4 as whirling, and exhausted through the upper opening 4b again into the open air. The guide vane 5 is provided with a ring-shaped substrate 5a, for example, of a thin plate, and tops of claw pieces 5b are pulled up aslant on the substrate 5a for making guide parts 6.
