Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the fracture of cell and damage to electronic instrument by toughing a negative electrode current collector pushed up by the internal pressure of cell when overcharged to a projection provided on the inner wall of a case above a positive electrode serving as a positive electrode terminal. CONSTITUTION:The projection 3a is provided circumferentially on the inner wall of the positive electrode case 3, and the case 3 above the positive electrode is bonded integrally with the negative electrode terminal 1 and the sealing ring 2 of borosilicate glass or ceramic. Also, the inside of the case 3 above the positive electrode is provided with the annular insulating gasket 4 of nylon, polyethylene, etc., and the lower part of the case 3 is connected to the opening end of the case 10 below the positive electrode filled with the positive electrode mixture 9 composed primarily of silver oxide, maganese dioxide, or mercury oxide. The upper part of the said positive electrode mixture 9 is provided with the separator 8, the negative electrode mixture 6 composed primarily of amalgamated zinc through the electrolyte-impregnated material 7, and the negative electrode current collector 5.
