Abstract

PURPOSE: To accomplish accurate control of printing pressure while simplifying the construction through control of the printing pressure by varying by stages the tension strength of the type spring according to the number of stroke of the type to be hammered.

CONSTITUTION: In the first printing pressure control mechanism A₁, with the turning of a knob 5, a control cam 4 is rotated to the position shown by the dotted line and engages a roller 17. This causes the rotary arm 3 and a type spring 2 to be regulated to the position as shown by the solid line thereby softening the charging force of the spring 2. Consequently, the tention of the type linkage member 1 with the spring 2 becomes weak which in turn, weakens the forced rotation and inertial rotation. Thus, the printing pressure is softened. On the other hand, when the cam is rotated to the position shown by the long and short dash line and engages the roller 17, the arm 3 and the spring 2 are regulated to the position as shown by the long and short dash line to increase the charging force of the spring.Therefore, the tension of the member 1 with the spring 2 is enhanced, resulting in the stronger forced rotation and the inertial rotation of the bar. Thus, the printing pressure is increased.
