Abstract
PURPOSE: To save fuel consumption at the time of low-load operation of gas turbine, by connecting a motor-generator mechanically to the shaft of gas generator, and using the motor-generator as generator at the time of high-speed operation of engine when fuel consumption is low, while using the same as motor at the time of low- speed operation of engine.
CONSTITUTION: Function of motor-generator 11 are selectively switched by controller 13 depending on the rotational speed of gas generator 4 detected by tachometer 14. That is, motor-generator 11 is used as generator at the time of self-supporting operation and particularly at the time of high-speed operation of gas generator 4 when fuel consumption is low, whereas it is used as motor at the time of low-speed operation such as at the time of idling operation when fuel consumption is high, and fuel supply to combustor 2 is stopped. In this state, rotation of gas generator 4 is sustained by the output of motor-generator 11 functioning as motor.
