Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it possible to demagnetize a high-coercive force metallic magnetic tape with a small erasing current by constituting the core part by an amorphous alloy thin plate of a prescribed composition. CONSTITUTION:Core part 1 of an erasing head is formed by the amorphous alloy thin plate of the composition expressed by expression (T1-aMa)1-zXz (however, T=one or more kinds of Co and Fe, M=one or more kinds of Cr, Nb, Ta, Mo and W, X=B or the alloy system of B+Si and Si is 25 atom % or less, a and z are 0.02- 0.06 and 0.2-0.27 respectively). It is desirable that T in the composition of the alloy above is substituted by Ni of 10 atom % or less to increase permeability and reduce the erasing current. By this constitution, an alloy thin plate of saturated magnetization 10000G or more and effective permeability 4000 or more for 100kHz can be obtained, so that even a high-coercive force metallic magnetic tape can be erased sufficiently.
