Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve output in such a way that two air inlet valves are provided, swirl is reinforced in the combustion chamber at low and middle load drives, and air inlet resistance is made lower at high load drive.
CONSTITUTION: At low speed, since air is filled in the cylinder 14, even if a rocker arm 10 is rocked by lift of a rocker arm 10, because the load of a valve spring 24 is far bigger than the load of a spring 16, a plunger 15 slides in the cylinder 14, a second air inlet valve 2 does not work. At high speed, oil pressure works in the oil passage 13, oil is filled in the cylinder 14. In this case, when the rocker arm 10 is rocked by cam lift, the plunger 15 subdues the load of the valve spring 24 resulting in working the air inlet valve 2. In consequence, in the low and middle load driving condition, swirl is reinforced in the combustion chamber, to improve the output in the high load driving condition.
