Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve detection reliability of a counter with a reading device which reads display numbers on a number wheel by making use of a Hall element, by arranging magnets in the circumferential direction of the number wheel.
CONSTITUTION: At the circumference of number wheel 11, five magnets 12a, 12b... are arranged with the same polarity at equal intervals while respective magnetic poles correspond to display numbers. As those magnets, ones differing in magnetic force are selected. To output terminals B and B' of Hall element 13, Hall output voltage amplifier 15 providing unbalanced-voltage compensation is connected. Polarities of voltage detected sequentially as number wheel 11 turns are inverted alternately and the variation of its size can be incrased, so that numbers can be read with an easy desition and high precision.
