Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the size and to improve the performance and reliability, by the use of a four-component solid electrolyte (LiI-AgI-Ag2O-MO3 where M=Cr, Mo, W alone or in combination), each component being in a specified range. CONSTITUTION:Between a negative electrode 3 and a positive electrode 5 there lies a four-component solid electrolyte (LiI-AgI-Ag2O-MO3 where M=Cr, Mo, W alone or in combination) in which LiI is 0.01-60mol%, AgI is 0.5-99.9mol%, Ag2O is 0-49mol%, MO3 is 0-49mol%, and AgI+MO3 is 0-95mol%. Preferably, as the negative electrode 3 there is used Li; and as the positive electrode 5, there is used Ag, Ag2O, AgO, Ag2S, Ag3SI, and other silver compounds having high electron conductivity. In another possible combination, the negative electrode is Li or Ag, and the positive electrode is poly(2-vinylpyridine)-I2, or a complex of pyrene, violanthrone, and other condensed aromatic hydrocarbons and iodine.
