Abstract
PURPOSE:To secure precise locking position of a gas spring, by filling a space above a piston with gas while filling the other space below the piston with liquid which can be communicated with or isolated from liquid in an outer space through a valve and passage. CONSTITUTION:For contracting an assembly of a piston 3 and piston rod 4, a lever 20 is turned to force a valve 18 upward for communicating a chamber 6 with a passage 16 through a throttle 19. As the assembly is forcibly expanded, liquid in the chamber 6 flows into a space 13 through the passage 16 and high pressure gas in the upper part of the space 13 then smoothly flows into a chamber 5 through a passage 14. As the force pressing the piston rod 4 is removed, the assembly is lifted due to high pressure gas in the space 13. On the other hand, when the force against the lever 20 is removed, the valve 18 is reset due to the liquid pressure to shut the chamber 6 off from the passage 16, whereby inhibiting liquid flow between the chamber 6 and space 13. The assembly is row completely locked.
