Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the cohered toner to be readily removed from the inside of developer with a simple constitution by so controlling the toner thickness by a defining member as to differ at the developing and non-developing.
CONSTITUTION: Magnetic toner 4 being one-component developer is contained in a vessel 3 and the magnet 6 magnetized with plural magnetic poles is fixed in a non- magnetic cylindrical sleeve 5 which is rotating. A doctor blade 7 which defines the toner thickness is provided and the magnetic pole of the same polarity is provided to part of the magnet 6 in proximity so that a repulsive magnetic field is formed. In the process other than development, the distance between the blade 7 and sleeve 5 is expanded by such a means as spring. Then, coarse and large foreign matter enters the toner through the spacing between the blade and sleeve and is conveyed by being disengaged from the blade edge until it reaches the repulsive msgnetic pole part where it receives repulsive force and is recovered into the vessel 8. Thereby, the cohered toner may be readily removed and the sensible images of good quality obtained.
