Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the yield of Raschig's method hydrazine by dissolution- removing hydrazine in condensate obtd. from a hydrazine concn. purifying process and using the hydrazine-free condensate as a solvent for starting material ammonia or urea.
CONSTITUTION: In a Raschig's method hydrazine manufacturing method, a very small amt. of hydrazine contained in condensate from a liquid hydrazine reactant concentrating process is catalytically decomposed to lower the hydrazine content to 10ppm or less, and the resulting water is used as solvent water for starting material ammonia or urea. The catalyst used in the catalytic decomposition includes activated carbon, platinum group metal catalyst and heavy metal catalyst each of which may be supported on activated carbon, alumina, silica or the like.
