Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a transfer surface having improved weather and chemical resistances, by thermally transferring to an alumina film an image design consisting of a sublimating coloring agent, and coating the transfer surface with a collidal alumina solution containing a water-soluble resin which can be rendered water resisting property. CONSTITUTION:A substrate material, for example, glass or iron is coated with colloidal alumina or colloidal silica, and the resulting product is burnt to be dried. As a result, an alumina or silica film is obtained. A picture consisting of transfer foil containing a sublimating coloring agent (for example, a dispersed dye) is thermally transferred to the alumina or silica film. The transfer surface is then subjected to top coating by using a solution containing 20-10000pts.wt., preferably, 100-900pts.wt., of a water-soluble resin (preferably, melamine resin) which can be rendered water resisting property, based on 100pts.wt. of colloidal alumina (for example, sol which can be obtained by hydrolyzing basic aluminum chloride) and/or colloidal silica (for example, sol of acid decomposed water glass). The resulting product is then dried and hardened.
