Abstract
PURPOSE: To apply a coating film having excellent surface smoothness and adhesivity to the surface of a porous substrate, by applying a prime coating composed of a colloidal solution of an inorganic oxide containing inorganic fillers to the porous substrate, and further applying a top coating to the surface of the prime coating after drying and polishing thereof.
CONSTITUTION: A porous substrate such as transite, plasterboard, cemented pulp board, etc. is coated with a primer coating composition composed of a colloidal solution of an inorganic oxide (e.g. alumina sol) containing one or more inorganic fillers such as silica powder, calcium carbonate, talc, etc., and, after drying and poloshing the primer coating, futher coated with a desired top coating.
EFFECT: Since the colloidal inorganic oxide absorbed into the substrate acts the role of sealer, the penetration of the top coating composition is prevented, and a coating film having excellent glossiness and adhesivity is obtained.
