CONSTITUTION:The steel wire for welding is composed of C; 0.22% (hereinafter the same) or less, Si; 0.35-0.95, Mn; 0.5-2.5; total Ti; 0.03-0.2 (preferably 0.03-0.09), acid-soluble Ti; 0.03%, O; 0.01 or less and the rest of substantially Fe and comprises depositing vegetable oil at 0.001-0.5 in wire weight ratio on the wire surface. Controlling the acid-soluble Ti to a slight amount prevents the formation of spattering at the gas-shielded arc welding composed primarily of CO2, improves the removability of slag, wire set, etc. and yields high-toughness weld metal.
