Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the title electrode the work efficiency of which in welding is enhanced by using a coating material contg. a specific amt. of rutile of a specific grain size constitution and a specific amt. of iron sand and/or ilmenite of such a constitution.
CONSTITUTION: The coating material of the electrode contains 5W40 wt% of iron sand and/or ilmenite more than 70% of which has a grain size constitution of 105W 250 μ and 5W30 wt% of rutile 60W80% of which has a grain size constitution of 105W250 μ. The arc of the electrode is soft, good arc stability is obtd., and weld metal is well attached to base metal. Crater expands enough, and globules shift at a spraying state, resulting in superior work efficiency.
