Abstract

PURPOSE: To change the voltage between electrodes, assure the quality of the low resistance weld zone and improve working efficiency by controlling the pressing force between the electrodes.
CONSTITUTION: During supplying of welding current, the maximum value thereof is outputted from a waveform representative point holding circuit 6 at every half wave of the inter-electrode voltage detected by a voltage detecting circuit 5. It is compared momentarily with the voltage based on the reference voltage curve generated by a reference voltage generating circuit 7 by a differential amplifier 8 and a pressing force control unit 9 is operated by the signal Vd corresponding to this voltage difference to control the pressing force between a moving electrode 2a and a fixed electrode 2b by way of a piston 3, so that the differential voltage is made zero. Namely, when the pressing force is increased, the inter-electrode voltage decreases and when the pressing force is made to decreased pressure, the inter-electrode voltage increases. The inter-electrode voltage is so controlled as to change in conformity with the reference voltage curve over the current supply period, whereby the good quality is obtained.
