Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect the stacked level of powder almost without affecting the movement of the powder, by detecting the pressure of a fluid passing through the stack of the powder.
CONSTITUTION: Powder 2 is supplied to the top of a container 1 in the direction of an arrow F. When the height of the stack of the powder exceeds that of a pressure detection hole 9c, a pressure difference takes place between the hole 9c and an uppermost pressure detection hole 9a. The pressure difference is detected by a pressure difference converter 11. A main blower 6 is then started by a control circuit 12 to convey the powder 2 by air flow through a transportation pipe 8 in the direction of another arrow B. When the quantity of the incoming powder is larger than that of the outgoing powder, a pressure difference also takes place between the pressure deection holes 9a, 9b and the gate 3 is closed by the control circuit 12. When the quantity of the incoming powder is smaller than that of the outgoing powder, there is no pressure difference between the pressure detection holes 9a, 9d and the blower 6 is stopped to halt the outflow of the powder.
