Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the title alloy of a specified compsn. contg. C, Cr, W, etc. and the balance of Co from cracking without lowering the high temp. compressive strenght by holding the alloy with heating under specified conditions to lower the hardness of the austenite matrix.
CONSTITUTION: A cast alloy consisting of C 1.5W3.0%, Si≤1.0%, Mn≤1.0%, Cr 25W35%, W 8W17%, Fe≤3.0%, P.S≤0.03%, Ni≤1.0% and the balance essentially of Co is held with heating at 1150W1200°C for 4hr or more to lower the hardness of the austenite matrix to Hv500 or less. By this heat treatment the ductility of the Co-base cast alloy is enhanced without lowering the high compressive strength at high temp., thereby solving a cracking problem.
