Abstract

CONSTITUTION: A solid alkali hydroxide such as potassium hydroxide or sodium hydroxide is heated to a temp. about the b.p. of a solvent such as chloroform or carbon tetrachloride in the presence of the solvent and a dispersant such as a surfactant and agitated turbulently to finely disperse the alkali hydroxide in the solvent in mμWμ unit. By distilling offf the solvent alkali hydroxide ultra fine grains are easily obtd. Formerly, manufacture of the grains was difficult owing to its high hydroscopicity.
