Abstract

PURPOSE: A mixture of metatitanic acid with basic resin monomer or oligomer is heated so that monomer or oligomer is transformed into high polymer, thereby to provide an easy to handle, adsorbent having good adsorbability and mechanical strength.
CONSTITUTION: As a basic resin monomer, a monomer or oligomer containing one or more of amino group, such as aniline, pyridine, dicyandiamine is used. Such monomer or oligomer is added to aqueous slurry of metatitanic acid and mixed with acid catalyst such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and if necessary, crosslinking agent, and the mixture is subject to resin forming reaction at room temperature or under heat. The resulted solid product is crushed and heated to be dried, or first heated to be dried and then crushed. In order to provide spherical adsorbent agent, the reaction is conducted in nonaqueous solvent such as benzene, while stirring.
