Abstract
PURPOSE: To facilitate the deaeration of the water taken-in through a suction pipe using a simple device by separating bubbles from the cooling water taken-in through a intake provided in the suction pipe by means of a deaerator.
CONSTITUTION: The section area of a cylindrical container 12 forming a deaerator 6 is larger than the section areas of a taking-in pipe 5 and a pipe 7, therefore, the flow rate of the cooling water taken-in from an intake 4 provided within a suction pipe 2 and delivered through the taking-in pipe 5 is greatly reduced in the cylindrical container 12. Accordingly, bubbles contained in the flowing water move upward owing to their own bouyance and escapes above the water level 47 of a drainage canal through a deaerator pipe 16. Thus the cooling water is deaerated in the deaerator 6 before use so that the mulfunction of the cooling water pump or the reduction of cooling effect of the cooling system due to accumulation of air in the cooling element.
