Abstract
PURPOSE:To easily compensate non-linearity due to a light-emitting diode and non- linearity in a phase characteristic, by connecting a capacitive circuit in parallel with the diode of a non-linear circuit comprising the diode and a resistor. CONSTITUTION:A capacitive circuit (capacitor) 9 is coupled in parallel with the diode 6 of a non-linear circuit, which comprises the diode 6 and a resistor 7 and acts to compensate the non-linearity of a light-emitting diode 4. The gain produced by the light-emitting diode 4 varies by R3/(R2+R3) and a phase varies by tan<-1>omegaCR<2> due to the different operation point of the diode 6, where R2 denotes the resistance a of resistor 10b, R3 denotes the resistance of another resistor 7 and C denotes the capacitance of the capacitor 9. The non-linearity of the gain and phase of the light-emitting diode 4 can be compensated by adjusting the resistances R2, R3 and the capacitance C. Thus, the quality of a transmitted signal can be improved.
