Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a good form to a cooled strip steel in water quenching of continuously annealed strip steel by a method wherein the strip steel is cooled in warm water at a specific temperature from film boiling range to nuclear boiling range, then boiling film is removed, immediately before or after entering nuclear boiling range, using water jet stream. CONSTITUTION:Recrystallized, high-temperature strip steel 1 is quenched with water by first cooling in static water at 60 deg.C above the barrier plate 4 in tank 3 until the steel 1 reaches 200-550 deg.C at which the state is film to nuclear boiling range. After the steel 1 passes through the barrier plate 4, immediately before or after nuclear boiling range, a spray device 5 is used to inject water jet stream on both surface of the strip 1 to remove boiling film and to cool the steel to the temperature of water. This prevents defective shape including corrugated edge, thereby preventing yield reduction of strip steel due to faulty shape.
