Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent scale-caused scratching on the surface of hot-rolled steel plate by the procedure in which a steel piece containing Si of 0.1% and more is heated at 1170°C or less in a heating furnace, the size of pores present in scale on the surface of the steel piece is controlled, and the scale is removed by injection of high-pressure water.
CONSTITUTION: A steel slab containing Si of 0.1% and more is hot-rolled into a 3mm or more thick steel plate while heating the slab at 1170°C or less in a heating furnace, whereby the pores present in scale are finely dispersed without causing the fusion of 2FeO, SiO2 formed from the reaction of FeO and SiO2 from oxidation of Si in the scale formed on the surface of the slab. The scale in such a state can be easily removed by injection of high-pressure water immediately after being taken out of the heating furnace, and thus the formation of scratches caused by scaling on the surface of original steel plate manufactured by the subsequent hot rolling process can be prevented.
