Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce variation of heater capacity resulting from variation of engine revolution by a method wherein the heat of engine cooling water is stored in a heat accumulator when a heater is off operation, and the heat stored in the accumulator is radiated when the cooling water temperature has fallen during operation of the heater. CONSTITUTION:When a heater is off operation, a faucet 26 is closed by a valve, a pump 27 is stopped through a switch 33, and on-off valves 28 and 29 are kept open. As a result, engine cooling water flowing from an outlet 6 of a water jacket 1 to the side of a heater 10 is flowed through the first passage 13 of a heat accumulator 12 and circulated in a solid-line circuit 31. In this circulation step, the accumulator 12 accumulates heat when the cooling water temperature T2 is higher than its own temperaure T1. During operation of the heater, when the temperature T1. During operation of the heater, when the temperature T1 is higher than the temperature T2, temperature sensors 34 and 35 detect this condition, the pump 27 is operated and the valves 28 and 29 are closed by a controller (not shown), hot water being discharged from a heater core 11 is circulated in a broken-line circuit 32, and accordingly the accumulator 12 radiates heat.
