Abstract

PURPOSE: To correctly maintain the silica sand content of circulating molding sand by separating away the sand of less silica sand content between the sieve and sand storage of the molding line of molding sand and replenishing new sand as much as the removed portion.
CONSTITUTION: An inadequate sand separator 11 is disposed next to a sieve process 6. The used molding sand 14 which has been transferred in the order of mixing 2, molding 3, pouring 4, knock-out 5 and sieve 6 from a sand storage 1 is charged into this by a conveyor 13. Air is sent from an air chamber 22 into a mixing vessel 12 through a nozzle 24 and is positively exhausted from an exhaust duct 27. Then, the inadequate molding sand of less silica sand content, much intrinsic layer and small specific gravity is separated from the adequate sand in the mixing vessel 12 and is discharged from the duct 27. The sand fell in the mixing vessel 12 is again agitated and fluidized by an agitator 15, by which the inadequate sand is separated and discharged. The sand recovered from the discharge port 25 is returned to the molding line and the new sand of the removed amount is added to the circulating sand.
