Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the performance of the membrane without causing hemolysis and blood- clot phenomena by using the spacer which forms multiple parallel channels of the specific value diameter in close contact with the raw liquid side membrane surface in the membrane element of the type using the plane membrane of the artifitial kidney.
CONSTITUTION: The spacer 3 of the specific shape is enclosed by a membrane 2 and both are flow-tightly bonded to form the raw liquid channels 4 of 100W400 microns in corresponding diameter or 50W200 microns in flat spacing. The membrane 2 comprising casting a semipermeable membrane on the back cloth 6 of woven or non-woven fabric of acetate fabric or the like and substituting the moisture of the wet membrane of thickness total about 100W400 microns with glycerin is used.
