Abstract

PURPOSE: To ease the manufacture of membrane envelopes by laminating permeable membranes zigzag, alternately cross-placing the spacers for permeated liquid channels and the spacers for raw liquid channels therebetween and letting the respective ends of the membrane envelopes and spacers make half or one round around a water-collecting pipe.
CONSTITUTION: The membrane envelope holding pieces 6 of nearly square shape in cross section pierced with the longitudinal holes 4 communicating with respective small holes 2 nerly equal to the length of the water-collecting pipe 3 to the top surfaces of the plural small holes 2 pierced along the axial line of the water-collecting pipe 3 and further with the cross grooves 5 on one side face are laminated. Permeable membranes 8 are bonded to the top and bottom surfaces of the membrane envelope holding pieces 6 by means of adhesive agents in such a manner that the spacers 7 are folded back and sandwiched to the cross groove side of the holding pieces 6 and at the same time the right and left opening ends are sealed to envelope form. Spacers 9 for raw liquid channels are laid on the opposite side of the holding pieces, whereby the respective membrane envelopes 8 and spacers 9 are alternately laminated around the water-collecting pipe to cylindrical form.
