Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain an iron type sintered material having superior physical properties and resulting in little O content of a sintered material and a forged material by adding alloy dust of a compsn. based on iron, Mn and C and forming liquid phase in a specified temp. range to iron dust or iron alloy dust followed by mixing, press forming and sintering.
CONSTITUTION: To iron dust or iron alloy dust is added Fe-Mn-C type alloy dust of a compsn. based on iron, Mn and C and forming liquid phase in the temp. range of 1045W1200°C, and they are mixed. The alloy dust added contains 60W85wt% Mn and 2.0W7.5wt% C. The mixed alloy dust is then press-formed and sintered in the temp. range of 1045W1200°C. The resulting iron type sintered material forms an alloy by sintering at a relatively low temp., so the O content of the sintered material is lower than that of a sintered material obtd. by a conventional method, and the amt. of Mn evaporated in sintering is reduced as compared to a conventional method.
