Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent delayed cracking from occurring at a boundary section between a shell of low alloy steel of a high pressure container and a layer of stainless steel formed on the inner surface of the shell being made by padding, by forming an intermediate layer between the shell and stainless steel layer. CONSTITUTION:This high pressure container consists of a shell 1 of 2.25/Cr-1Mo steel, an intermediate layer of dead low carbon stainless steel 3 having a carbon content of not more than 0.02% or low alloy steel 4 having a carbon content of not more than 0.08%, and a layer of built-up weld 2 of stainless steel the composition of which corresponds to that of SUS347 according to the Japanese Industrial Standard. Thus, the carbon content of the boundary section between the layer of built- up weld 2 and the shell 1 of low alloy steel can be reduced easily to around not more than 0.05% without decreasing the strength of the low alloy steel of which the shell 1 is made. Therefore, a high pressure container having a high resistance to delayed cracking can be obtained.
