Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce size and improve sealing property by a method wherein an inner bearing element is arranged inside an outer bearing element with a gap therebetween, centering spring members are closely contacted with the end faces of the bearing elements to cover the openings of the gap, and a fluid is fed from the outer bearing element into the gap.
CONSTITUTION: A fluid fed from a fluid feeding passage 9 flows through an annular groove 12 into a gap 5, where it forms a squeeze damper liquid film, and flows through a feeding passage 13 into the gap between the bearing surface of an inner bearing element 4 and the outside peripheral surface of a rotary shaft 1, to form a lubricating oil film. In this condition, with the shaft 1 rotated at high speed and vibrated radially, the vibration is restrained by the squeeze damper liquid film in the gap 5 and by spring members 6. The centering action of the spring members 6 against eccentricity of the shaft 1 draws back the center of the shaft 1 to that of the element 3 through the element 4. This constitution reduces axial size of the bearing and maintains squeeze damping effect for a longer time of period.
