Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise the volumetric efficiency in a wide range of revolution speed, by providing an intake control valve which regulates the communication between an intake passage and an intake reservoir by a valve plate which is rotated at a speed equal to the revolution speed of a crankshaft or to a half of the revolution speed.
CONSTITUTION: An intake control valve 6, which is made of a valve plate 7 which is driven at the same rotational frequency as a crankshaft 11 by a pulley 8 and a timing belt 9, is provided in the part of an intake passage 3 connected to an intake reservoir 4. The valve plate 7 comprises an open part 20, a damping part 21 having numerous small holes and a closed part 22 having no holes. A timer T comprising helical spline members 12, 13, a coupling member 14 for changing the relative position of the spline members and a fork for displacing the coupling member 14 is provided between the crankshaft 11 and an intake control valve driving shaft 10. An intake passage 16 from another cylinder is opened into the intake reservoir 4.
