Abstract
PURPOSE:To avoid increment of the negative pressure although the rotational angle of the arm is increased by forming the width of the negative pressure generation surface of the floating head slider which is vertical to the magnetic recording medium surface in such way that the width may be increased gradually toward the running direction of the above medium surface. CONSTITUTION:Floating head slider 11 is provided on magnetic recording medium surface 6. Slider 11 contains taper surface 12 at the inflow end of the air, positive pressure generation surface 13 which generates the positive floating force, and negative pressure generation surface 14a which is formed to be broadened nearly in the linear way toward the running direction of surface 6. And border line 15a is formed between surfaces 13 and 14a, and angle theta' formed by line 15a is set nearly identical to the maximum value of angle theta which is formed with the longer direction of slider 11 caused by the arm's rotation and the inflow of the air. In such constitution, the variation can be minimized for the floating amount regardless of the change of angle theta, thus obtaining the steady floating characteristics.
