Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain with ease the title compound for a raw material of polyurethane, by reacting a hydrochloride of amino acid with a hydrochloride of amino- alcohol in the absence of an organic solvent forming an azeotropic mixture with water.
CONSTITUTION: A hydrochloride of amino acid (e.g., L lysine dihydrochloride) is reacted with a hydrochloride of an amino-alcohol (e.g., hydrochloride of ethanolamine) under heating to give an amino-alkyl ester of amino acid. In this preparation, in the absence of an organic solvent forming an azeotropic mixture with water, hydrogen chloride gas is absorbed into the reaction system and reacted. Formed water is taken out intermittently if necessary. Under the conditions of this reaction, the formed water remains in the reaction system, the state of dehydration becomes incomplete, but the reaction rate increases.
