Abstract

PURPOSE:To wipe the ground surface side of a hot dipped steel sheet to a very small metal amount at a high preciseness, by bending the surface of a wiper bilaterally symmetrically along the hot dipped steel sheet and by changing crown given to the scraped surface in accordance with the amount of camber of the steel sheet. CONSTITUTION:A strip 1 introduced into a molten Zn bath 2 is plated with molten Zn while passing rolls 3, 4, 5, then it is pulled out vertically. The strip is wiped just after rising (x1=40-70mm) by a wiper 10 of a mechanical wiping means 8 in order to remove excess molten Zn to a very small metal amount not larger than 20g/m<2>. The other side of the strip is gas-wiped by means of a gas-wiping nozzle 7 to a desired metal amount. The lateral and longitudinal metal amount are measured with a metal-amount-measuring instrument 9. The wiper 10 is bent in accordance with the amount of camber measured by a strip-shape-detecting means 12 so as to change the crown given to the surface to be scraped.
