PURPOSE:To maintain efficient and stable blast furnace operation, by controlling necessary factors so that the heat flow ratio of specified level calculated from the measurements by magnetic sensor sonde and gas sonde may be approximate to the reference heat flow ratio. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic sensor sonde 1 inserted in a specified filler layer below charge level a measures drop speed VS of charge 2 in the inserted position, bulk density rhoS, and specific heat at constant pressure CS. A gas sonde 100 placed just above charge level a measures gas flow speed VG. By analyzing the gases sampled by both sondes 1, 100, gas density rhoG, and specific heat at constant pressure CG are obtained. From these values, heat flow ratio omega shown in formula I is calculated by an arithmetic control unit 30, and one or more factors of charge, blast, fuel blow-in, and furnace top pressure are controlled by the unit 30 so that the heat flow ratio omega may be approximate to the reference heat flow ratio omega' predetermined at the same level.
