Abstract
PURPOSE: To ensure the accurate detection with a simple constitution by putting the light beam to the reflection material which is located as if it enclosed completely the belt-type substance crossing vertically and then detecting the light reflected several times by the reflection component.
CONSTITUTION: Belt-type substance 1 is put through aperture 3, and a pair of reflectors 4 and 5 plus 6 and 7 are provided to oppose to each other and as if they enclosed substantially aperture 3. And direction converting reflector 8 is located for the light beam between reflectors 5 and 7, and then light source 10 and light receiving unit 11 are locatd at the gaps between reflectors 5 and 6 plus between 4 and 7 respectively. The light beam radiated from source 10 is reflected repetitively between reflectors 4 and 5 and at the same time shifted gradually toward the right side to be put into reflector 8 and then reflected to reflector 6. Then the light beam is reflected repetitively between reflectors 6 and 7 and at the same time shifted gradually to unit 11. Now in case substance 1 exists within aperture 3, the light beam is cut off and thus not put into unit 11. Thus the presence or absence can be detected for substance 1.
