Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent oscillation or overturning of thermal insulation blocks, by welding stiffeners to external bottom plate so that they are effective as division frames for fixing the blocks on the bottom. CONSTITUTION:Many steel plates a are laid on a foundation 3 and tack-welded to each other, and part of positions designed for stiffeners 9 are regular-welded. The stiffeners 9 are crossed each other and welded on the tack-welded bottom plate 1a of an external tank to form division frames 10 for fixing thermal insulation blocks arranged tight in each division. Finally the steel plates a tack-welded on the bottom plate 1a are regular-welded to each other to complete the bottom plate 1a. This assembly method produces no deformation of the bottom plate 1a due to welding, because thermal deformation is prevented by the stiffeners 9 welded previously as division frames 10, and the insulation blocks 4 are kept fixed as designed.
